Do I need a visa to enter Indonesia?

Yes. All travelers who visit Indonesia must apply for a visa, though there are exceptions for citizens from certain countries. Here is some information about visas for visitors to Indonesia.

  • Visa-Free Entry: This entry is not extendable. Citizens of several countries can enter Indonesia without a visa for short stays (up to 30 days) for tourism. These countries include most ASEAN nations, the United States, and many European Union countries.
  • Visa on Arrival (VoA): Travelers from other countries can obtain a Visa on Arrival at certain entry points for a stay of up to 30 days. This visa can be extended once for an additional 30 days.
  • e-Visa: Indonesia provides an e-visa system that enables eligible travelers to apply online before their arrival. Visitors can use the Global Visa Corp website to submit their visa application.

If you plan to stay in Indonesia for more than 30 days or for reasons not covered by the visa on arrival, you’ll need to apply for a visa in advance at an Indonesian embassy or consulate. Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond their arrival date and have at least two blank pages. A confirmed return or onward ticket is also required. On the other hand, some nationalities may be eligible for visa-free entry for short stays. Therefore, it's essential to check the specific requirements based on your nationality before traveling.
